What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are surgically implanted devices that replace missing teeth. These artificial roots provide a strong foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth that are made to match your natural teeth. By fusing with the jawbone, they not only replace the tooth root but also become a lasting part of your dental structure, closely mimicking the look and function of your natural teeth.

Benefits of Dental Implants

The smile is a central feature of your facial expression and significantly influences your confidence, self-esteem, social interactions, and professional success. Scientific evidence supports the smile's profound impact on daily life, often referred to as the curve that sets everything right. However, issues like crooked, chipped, or discolored teeth can make some individuals self-conscious about their smiles.
They preserve the health of surrounding natural teeth by functioning independently.
Prevent further bone loss and maintain the integrity of facial structures.
Provide a natural tooth-like appearance and function, enhancing both aesthetics and utility.

    Dental Implant: Frequently Asked Questions

    awards-img9
A dental implant can be done right after the tooth extraction on the same day or after 3–6 months so that the mouth gets enough time to heal after the extraction procedure.
Dental implants are titanium prosthetic tooth roots that are surgically inserted into the mandible. They offer a strong base onto which removable or permanent replacement teeth that mimic your natural teeth can be affixed. If you have lost teeth because of an accident, decay, or other causes, implants can help you smile again both functionally and aesthetically.
Typically, the dental implant process takes several months and multiple steps. The implant is first inserted surgically into the mandible. An abutment is fastened to the implant following a few months of the implant integrating with the bone (a process known as osseointegration). Lastly, the repair is completed by placing a specially manufactured crown on the abutment. Both local anesthetic and, occasionally, sedation are used for the entire procedure.
A dental implant procedure for a single tooth may take about 1–2 hours. The entire implant procedure may take about 3–4 months to complete in cases where bone grafting is not required. For some cases where bone grafting is required the healing duration may exceed up to 9 months.
Cases where bone is inadequate to support an implant, our implantologist uses innovative techniques to expand the bony ridge & use bone grafts to augment the deficient bone.

In the upper arch, a sinus lift procedure can also be done to place an implant where the bone is deficient. Digital Implant Surgery is a very good tool to plan the guided placement & angulation of the implant to the area of maximum thickness of bone.

We believe that a well-equipped treatment plan is imperative to the success of dental implants. At Dr. Joy Dental Clinics, we have successfully placed numerous implants and never encountered the need to remove an implant or replace it with a new one even after years. Ideally, we provide a 10-year warranty (T&C Apply) with our dental implants treatment but with proper oral care, the lifespan of a dental implant is 25+ years.
Modern dental implant treatment is a straightforward, minimally-invasive process that’s easier than having a tooth removed. Thanks to our in-house digital 3D planning process, your implant treatment is streamlined for shorter placement times and quicker recovery. Most people can complete their treatment with a small amount of local anesthetic (numbing medication) and little or no over-the-counter pain medication afterward. Sedation dentistry is also available.
